Maine Highways and Bridges Bond Issue Increase, Amendment No. 5 (1919)

The Maine Highways and Bridges Bond Issue Increase Referendum, also known as Amendment No. 5, was on the September 8, 1919 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure increased the amount of bonds to be issued for the purpose of building state highways and providing for the building of intrastate, interstate and international bridges.[1][2] This amended Section 14 and Section 17 of Article IX of the Maine Constitution.[3]
