Maria Pagan was the acting U.S. trade representative in the Biden administration. She assumed office on January 20, 2021.[1] She left office after Katherine Tai was confirmed as U.S. trade representative in March 2021.

Biography

Pagan earned a B.A. from Tufts University and a J.D. and master's degree in foreign service from Georgetown University.[2]

From 1993 to 2003, Pagan was an attorney advisor in the Office of the Chief Counsel for International Commerce at the U.S. Department of Commerce. She then joined the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) where she provided legal counsel and litigated disputes before the World Trade Organization. As of 2021, Pagan was deputy general counsel in the USTR.[2]
