Marcus Harcus
Marcus Harcus (Grassroots-Legalize Cannabis Party of Minnesota) ran for election for Mayor of Minneapolis in Minnesota. He lost in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Harcus was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 59A of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Elections in Minneapolis are officially nonpartisan, but the Minneapolis City Charter allows mayoral and city council candidates to choose a party label to appear below their name on the official ballot. 2012
Harcus' campaign slogan is "People over profits." To that end, he proposes that the government "break-up the multi-national mega banks and create tax and regulatory policies which favor community-based financial institutions that are either cooperatives or nonprofit lenders." He also believes that "housing should be a human right in the United States of America."[4]
