The Maryland District Court Commissioners Powers and Duties Amendment, also known as Question 1, was on the November 5, 2002 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure authorized laws that give District Court Commissioners power to issue civil interim peace orders and civil interim protective orders when the Office of the Clerk of the District Court is closed, in order to provide for 24-hour service and protection.[1]
