The Maryland State Lottery Exception Amendment, also known as Question 2, was on the November 7, 1972 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure modified the prohibition on lotteris to provide an exception for lotteries operated by and for the benefit of the state.[1]
