2016

Nichols' campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Education: Monroe has a plan to improve schools across Oklahoma. Ensuring all kids get a good early start and strengthening the entire education pipeline is at the foundation of that plan.
  • Economic Development: Economic development starts with a competitive workforce. As a state representative, I will work to ensure companies have the kinds of incentives they need to help workers get the skills training they need and incentives for individuals to return back to training and education programs to progress in their careers. I believe in Oklahoma and Oklahomans, let's work to ensure our state policy reflects our belief that the Oklahoma worker is not only the backbone of our present, but the our greatest hope for the future.
  • The State Budget: Our current tax policy has sent Oklahoma into a perpetual state of economic crisis. While the national economy continues to show improvement, the decisions of the current legislature sacrificing Oklahoma's chance to join the rest of the country on the road to recovery. To improve the Oklahoma economy, we have to find modest ways to raise revenue without impacting the growth of the middle class. The fact that we are now faced with a budget shortfall of up to $1 billion and we're about to cut taxes again is not only ignorant, but it is putting the most vulnerable Oklahomans, students, seniors and working families at risk. Our budget is a reflection of our priorities, at this point the only thing our budget shows is we've put a priority in remaining 49th in everything, that's not what Oklahoma is really about.[6]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Oklahoma

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
