I grew up in AZ and have resided in the PVUSD since 2004. I have been married for over 18 years to my husband, Scott Farr, and our son currently attends high school within the district. I earned my M.A. degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum & Instruction from Chapman University. I also attended Arizona State University on a Regent's academic scholarship and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and a B.S. degree in Marketing. While attending ASU, I was a Communications Teaching Assistant. After obtaining my M.A. degree in Education, I spent time in the classroom teaching second grade. I'm retired and have the necessary time to dedicate to the district. Most importantly, having a child in the district gives me a vested interest in the district's success.

I also have an extensive business background as a Sales & Business Development Director overseeing Digital Advertising for AutoTrader.com and KBB for the West coast. Prior to this position, I worked as a Senior Account Executive in the Information Technology field helping major corporations align IT and Business initiatives and create operational efficiencies. Consultative solutions included Digital Intelligence, E-Business, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Services, and Wireless/Mobile computing initiatives.

A Board member's greatest responsibility must be the educational welfare of the students. The Board must collaborate with students, parents, teachers, staff, community members, and taxpayers as the Board serves as a general agent in carrying out the will of their constituents. Board members need to create best practices in Business Operations which allow schools for focus on individualized learning opportunities, allowing students to achieve their highest potential. The Board is responsible for maintaining a fiscally responsible budget which best allows schools to meet the educational needs of their students. The Board is responsible for developing an employee hiring and retention process that fosters innovation in teaching and learning. The Board must set policies to attract and retain the highest quality teachers for each school. The establishment of the district policies is the responsibility of the Board, while the execution of those policies is the responsibility of the Superintendent. Thus, one of the most critical responsibilities of the Board is to ensure the district selects a competent and effective Superintendent.

The legacy I'd like to leave behind is to be remembered for being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, co-worker, and community member who helped make a positive impact on the lives of others. I want to leave my son with a solid foundation, education, and life skills to realize success and true happiness. I want to instill in him the values of honesty, integrity, and respect for others. My hope is to leave him with self-confidence, a strong work ethic, a passion for learning, and a desire to help others. I want my husband to feel I was a true partner in life. I want all family members and friends to feel I was always there for them in times of need. I pray I was able to best utilize my God-given talents to realize my life's purpose.

Students, Teachers, Staff, Parents, Community Members, and Taxpayers

I do not support discrimination of any kind. I believe in hiring the most qualified person for the job. I also believe we must have fair and unbiased recruiting and hiring practices.

I will work with legislators to ensure we have appropriate funding. I will be fiscally responsible in managing the budget directing more money to teachers and the classroom. If we want legislative and community support, we need to ensure our public schools are a place where parents want to send their children and a place employees want to work.

I believe schools need to offer the option of online instruction and in-person learning. I do not support dual modality teaching since it's not ideal for the teachers or the students. I respect the Arizona Parents Bill of Rights to direct the educational and medical decisions for their child. I do not support mask mandates. I support medical and religious freedom.

I believe most already know I will work with parents in the district to rebuild their trust and ensure their voices are heard. I have spoken at the district meetings in support of the Parents Bill of Rights https://azleg.gov/ars/1/00602.htm

I am also endorsed by Stand for Health Freedom
https://standforhealthfreedom.com/vhf/az-voterguide/

In the past, PVUSD has utilized United Parent Council to represent the parent voice on district committees and recommendations. If elected, I will work to ensure UPC is not the only parent voice. I will encourage other parents to get involved and not let the district have same individuals continue to make all the recommendations. I will encourage diversity of thoughts and opinions from all parents. I will encourage parental involvement in the classrooms and school functions. I will also implement online parental surveys to continue to solicit feedback.

I am running as a write-in candidate for a Board position with PVUSD. I support parental choice and believe every family should have the right to choose the best instructional model for their individual child. I am an advocate for in-person learning; however, I also support the option of continued online instruction. I believe Board members should consider students' educational, mental, social, and physical well-being when making decisions for the district.
