Issues in the district
Budget containment
Lee's Summit R-7 Schools has been facing budgetary issues since the 2008-2009 academic year as a results of a loss in state and local funding. These restrictions included reductions in staff members in administration, instruction and support staff positions; one-year district-wide salary freeze; deferring of textbook purchases; activity fees for sports and other such costs. The district has since implemented cost containment in excess of $92 million from 2008-09 through the end of the 2013-14 school year.[9]
