The Louisiana Superintendent of Education Election Amendment was not on the November 4, 2014 ballot in Louisiana as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have required that the state superintendent of education be elected by state voters.[1]
If the measure made the ballot and was approved by voters, the first election of the superintendent of education would have been in 2015.
The amendment was sponsored in the Louisiana Legislature by State Rep. Joe Harrison (R-51) and State Sen. Robert W. Kostelka (R-35) as House Bill No. 125.

In Louisiana, a two-thirds majority vote is required in both the House of Representatives and Senate in order to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot.
