An effort to recall Councilmembers Kimberly Ho and Carlos Manzo did not qualify for the ballot in Westminster, California.[1]
Organizers submitted 2,381 valid signatures against Ho, which was short of the number needed to force a recall election to be held.[1] They later submitted 2,878 signatures against Manzo to the city clerk. The recall against Manzo also did not go forward, after only 1,907 of these signatures were verified.[2][3][4]

Recall supporters
According to the Orange County Register, organizers initiated the recall campaign after Ho and Manzo voted in June 2021 to postpone the construction of a war monument, commemorating the 1972 Battle of Quang Tri, at Freedom Park in Westminster.[5][6]

Organizers needed to collect signatures from 20% of registered voters in each district, or 2,140 in District 2 and 2,660 in District 3.[5] They submitted 4,038 signed petitions against Kimberly Ho by the deadline of January 13, 2022.[4][1] The recall campaign ended after the county registrar of voters validated only 2,381 of those signatures, which fell short of the threshold needed to force a recall election to be held.[1]
The deadline to submit petitions against Carlos Manzo passed on February 15, 2022.[4] Organizers submitted 2,878 signatures against Manzo to the city clerk, which had until March 15, 2022, to validate them.[1] The recall campaign did not move foward after only 1,907 of the signatures were validated.[2]
