What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
EXCELLENCE - Prepare our students for future success by guiding them to excel in academic performance, character development, and emotional maturity. TRANSPARENCY - Facilitate two-way communications between district and community; Understand stakeholder needs and be accountable for our actions. BUDGET - Protect programs that directly benefit student learning; Leverage resources from community supporters and partners; Drive for equity among schools.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I believe that public education policy is the cornerstone of our society. Many of the society issues such as economic well-being, social mobility, and civil discourse - just to name some examples - can be addressed in the long term by a strong and effective public education system.
In what areas would you like to expand curriculum? For example, do you see a need for advanced technical training or apprenticeships? What sort of innovative programming would you advance if given the opportunity?
I would like to see project-based learning opportunities in the curriculum to build 21st century skills, including critical thinking, creativitiy, communication, and collaboration.
