James M. Kindler is an acting justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 12th Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 2008. He has also served on the New York Court of Claims since 2008.[1][2]

Education

Kindler received his B.A. degree from Harvard College in 1966 and his LL.B. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1969.[1]

Career

Kindler began his career in 1969 as a law clerk to justices of the Massachusetts Superior Courts. In 1970, he moved to New York to serve in the New York County District Attorney's Office through 2008. From 1970 to 1997, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney, Trial Bureau Chief, Chief of the Frauds Bureau, Chief of the Investigation Division, Executive Assistant District Attorney and First Assistant District Attorney. In 1998, he became a Chief Assistant District Attorney. He worked in this capacity until 2008, when he was appointed judge of the New York Court of Claims. He also became an Acting Supreme Court Justice that year.[1]
