James Alexander

James M. Alexander is a judge for the 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County, Michigan. He was appointed to the court by former Governor John Engler in August 2001. Alexander was re-elected in 2008 to a second six-year term, ending on January 1, 2015.[1][2] On November 4, 2014, Alexander was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[3]

Education
Alexander received his undergraduate degree from Miami University and his J.D. degree from the University of Detroit School of Law.[1]
Career
Prior to becoming a judge, Alexander served as the director of the Governor's Southeast Michigan Office from 1999 to 2001. He was appointed to the 6th Circuit Court bench in 2001 and has since served as the chief judge pro tempore for the Oakland County Circuit Court from 2005 to 2009 and as the presiding judge of the Family Division from 2004 to 2008.[1]
