Jake Hajdu, a seasoned state-level Democratic operative, was the Wisconsin state director for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.[1]
Career
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Jake Hajdu began working in politics as a field organizer for John Edwards' (D) 2008 presidential campaign. He then went on to work in a number of electoral and advocacy campaigns, including work for Kelda Roys and as a consultant with Melissa Mulliken Consulting. He has written that his inspiration to work in politics was "to make sure every American had quality health care and finish the job started by the New Deal and the Great Society."[3]
Hajdu first began working with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in 2009 as an organizing director and deputy field director for the 2010 coordinated campaign. He also served as the GOTV director for the party in Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional District. In November 2010, he became the party's political director.[2]
In October 2013, the party appointed Hajdu as executive director. In a press release announcing the promotion, party chair Mike Tate said, "I can’t think of a better person to keep moving us forward than Jake Hajdu. ... Jake’s professional relationships with Party leaders and elected officials, experience managing effective campaigns, and his understanding of the technical details that go into making the Party successful in all areas make him uniquely qualified to be at the helm of our operation going into what will be an exciting and monumental election year."[4]
Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, 2016
Jake Hajdu left his position in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in September 2015 to join Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign as a partnership director in Iowa. He transitioned to the role of Maine state director for the primary election in February 2016 and then to the same role in Wisconsin.[5]
In May 2016, the campaign announced that Hajdu would serve as the Wisconsin state director for the general election as well.[1]
