The Hawaii Jury Numbers and Civil Case Amounts, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Hawaii on November 7, 1978, as a convention referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that Article I, Section 13 (formerly 10) of the Hawaiian constitution be amended to increase the value of controversy from $100 to $1000. Also that Article I, Section 14 (formerly 11) of the Hawaiian constitution be amended to increase the number of jurors in a criminal prosecution case to 12.[1]
