I am a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County. I have a background in Economics and public policy. I am passionate about making my community a better place. I enjoy spending time with my family and the outdoors.
  • We need to restore parent's control of schools. Parents are the greatest influence and teacher in any kids life. We will have a transparent curriculum where parents control and know what their kids are learning in school.
  • We need safe schools and safe communities. Fights and violence are breaking out at unprecedented rates within schools and this is spilling over into surrounding neighborhoods. Children who cannot read and write by the third grade have a very high probability of engaging in criminal activity and a low probability of lifetime success.
  • We need superior academics. Anne Arundel County Schools were once a top five school district in Maryland. They are now in the bottom 50 percent. Almost 2/3 children enrolled in AACPS cannot read or write at grade level. We need to restore accountability to the parents. We will get these scores up through the oversight and administrative appointments that will be made on this board.
I am personally passionate about fiscal policy which is often overlooked despite its huge role in the school board. We will be facing a series of budgetary challenges with both present and future liabilities. I will bring fiscal responsibility to the board.
We need accountability. The schools are currently failing the students. We need board members who will take responsibility and take charge to turn this around.
The ultimate responsibility of the school board is to lead a prosperous school system. We will do this through the appointment and oversight of administrators. We will reevaluate the curriculum for effectiveness. We will adopt efficacious policy and budgets. Most importantly we need the input of the parents, as they are the primary teacher in a child's life.
When elected to the board I want to leave office with Anne Arundel County Schools a top five school district again.
My plan is to expand vocational training so every child can graduate from public schools and be ready to work if they do not wish to go to college. Every student should take a class to learn basic life skills. We need construction workers, mechanics, EMT's, cosmetologists, and many other vocations. We currently have limited space in these programs, they need to be expanded.
The school district dropped the ball with COVID. The board relegated your kid to an iPad for years, which amounted to years of lost learning and test scores that did not rebound upon return. I hear so often young children need speech therapy because they could not read facial inflections due to masks. If I am elected to the board I would keep kids in schools and I would not mandate masks and other medical therapies.
To educate a child in Anne Arundel County it costs approximately $20,000 per child per year. Parents need to know where their money is being spent. The majority of this is not on instruction, rather administration. Financial transparency and accountability are essential.
