Edward Sosnick
Edward Sosnick was a judge for the 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County, Michigan. He was elected to this position in 1989.[1] From 1996 to 1997 and from 1998 to 1999, he served as the Chief Judge of this court. He retired from the court at the end of his term, on January 1, 2013.[2][3][4]
Career
Sosnick worked as a private practice lawyer, then a city attorney and then a prosecuting attorney for Oakland County. In the latter position, he reached the rank of senior trial attorney before becoming a judge of the 48th District Court. He served on that court for four years before he was elected to the circuit court in 1989. He also served as the presiding judge of the Oakland County Family-Focused Juvenile Drug Court from 2001 to 2010.[1]
Awards and associations
Sosnick is a co-founder of the Oakland County Circuit Court's S.M.I.L.E. Program for divorcing parents and Chair of the Oakland County Mentoring Initiative Task Force. His awards include the: State Bar of Michigan's Champion of Justice Award; National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Award for Meritorious Service to the Children of America; Eleanor Roosevelt Humanities Award; The John O'Hair Lifetime Achievement Award; Garnet Award, Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County; Michigan State Police for Professional Excellence honor.[5]
