Dale Mortensen was a Republican member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 44 from 2015 to 2020. Mortensen died on January 29, 2020, from what appeared to be natural causes.[1]

Mortensen assumed office on January 5, 2015. Mortensen ran for re-election to the Montana House of Representatives to represent District 44. Mortensen won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Mortensen, a former law enforcement officer, is the owner of the Montana Private Investigation firm.[2]

Elections for the Montana House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 10, 2014; minor party and independent candidates had until June 2, 2014, to file. Sandy Wong was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Dale Mortensen was unopposed in the Republican primary. Mortensen defeated Wong in the general election. Incumbent Jonathan McNiven (R) ran in District 56.[9][10][11]

Mortensen's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Fight for Montana jobs by cutting taxes and eliminating unnecessary red tape creating a competitive hiring edge for small businesses and manufacturers.
  • Develop Montana’s natural resources to grow the economy and create jobs.
