As of October 24, 2019, the recall had not been submitted to the state for approval and was considered as abandoned.
Recall supporters
The New Jersey Republican State Committee organized the recall effort against Addiego. The recall effort was launched after Addiego changed her party affiliation from Republican to Democrat on January 28, 2019.[1][2]
Recall opponents
After she changed her party affiliation, Addiego said, "As gridlock in Washington dominates the news, it has become increasingly clear that in order to effect change you have to be part of the discussion and not on the outside looking in. The people of the 8th district did not elect me to be content in the role of loyal opposition."[2]
