City of Irvine Ethical Public Service Act, Measure H (June 2008)
A City of Irvine Ethical Public Service Ordinance, Measure H ballot question was on the June 3, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Irvine in Orange County, California, where it was approved.
Measure H tightened the city's lobbying rules.[1] The cost to the city of holding the special election is $200,000.
The ballot statement written by Irvine Mayor Beth Krom for Measure H was criticized by city council members Steven Choi and Christina Shea. They said the ballot statement was an exercise in self-promotion on the part of Mayor Krom, noting the frequent use of "I" rather than "we" sprinkled throughout the ballot argument.[2]

The question on the ballot:
Measure H: "This ballot measure would enact voter-adopted restrictions on certain conduct of the Mayor and the members of the City Council and of their Executive Assistants and appointed Commissioners. More specifically, the measure would prohibit the Mayor and the members of the City Council and their Executive Assistants and appointed Commissioners from engaging in compensated employment or service for lobbying for any private person or organization before any local public agency located in the County of Orange."[3] |
