A City of San Juan Capistrano bond proposition, Measure Y ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, California, where it was approved.

Measure Y authorized the City of San Juan Capistrano to borrow $30 million.

A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was required for approval. In California, it takes a 55 percent supermajority vote for a school bond measure to be approved, while city bond measures require a 2/3rds vote.

MEASURE Y: "To acquire and improve land to protect and preserve open space, natural areas, creeks and streams, historic areas, undeveloped hillsides and natural ridges from potential residential and commercial development and to provide additional recreational amenities such as bike and walking trails, equestrian facilities, parks and sports fields, shall the City of San Juan Capistrano issue 30 million dollars in bonds, at legal rates, with guaranteed annual independent audits, public expenditure review and no money for City administrators' salaries?"[1]
