Cheree A. Buggs
Cheree A. Buggs is a judge for the Supreme Court 11th Judicial District in New York. She was elected in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Buggs was a judge for the New York City Civil Court in Queens County from 2008 to 2016.[1]
Education
Buggs received her B.A. from New York University in 1983 and her J.D. from Temple University in 1986.[1]
Career
Buggs began her career in 1987 as an attorney for the Greater New York Mutual Insurance Company. The following year, she joined the New York City Human Resources Administration as an attorney. She then worked for the NYC Department of Finance, Parking Violations Operations as an administrative law judge (1991-2000) and a senior administrative law judge (1995-2000). She also ran her own law practice (the Law Office of Cheree A. Buggs) from 1991 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2007. She worked on the NYC Equal Employment Practices Commission from 2000 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2007. From 2002 to 2004, she served as counsel to the NYC City Council's Committee on Aging, Oversight and Investigations and the Subcommittee on Senior Centers. She then worked as an administrative law judge for the NYC Deptartment of Health and Mental Hygiene (2004-2007) and for the Environmental Control Board (2005-2007). She joined the civil court in 2008. She also served for a brief time in 2008 as a Queens County Family Court judge.[1]
