  • During a campaign stop in New Hampshire, Cory Booker suggested Friday he would select a woman to join his ticket if he became the Democratic presidential nominee. He said, “I am very confident that this election, we will make history, because no matter what—I’m looking you in the eye when I say this—there will be a woman on the ticket.”

  • Pete Buttigieg hit the 65,000 donor threshold to participate in the first Democratic primary debate Saturday.

  • Julián Castro campaigned in South Carolina, including a visit to the site of the future International African American Museum.

  • Beto O’Rourke raised $6.1 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign, topping the $5.9 million record previously set by Sanders for 2020 presidential contenders.

  • O’Rourke also said he would likely choose a woman running mate. "It would be very difficult not to select a woman with so many extraordinary women who are running right now. But first I would have to win and there's — you know, this is as open as it has ever been,” he said.

  • Joe Biden has not officially announced his campaign, but during a speech on Saturday, he said, “I'm told I get criticized by the New Left. I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the ... anybody who would run [for president].”

  • Bill de Blasio and Seth Moulton were in New Hampshire over the weekend.

The Main Event

  • Colorado joined 11 other states and the District of Columbia in the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact Friday. These jurisdictions, which collectively represent 181 electoral votes, have agreed to pledge their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner. The compact does not take effect until jurisdictions collectively representing 270 electoral votes or more join.

  • Like New Jersey, the Washington State Senate passed a bill requiring any candidate to release five years of tax returns before appearing on the ballot.
