Successor: James Ellison

Brian Moore was a member of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. Moore assumed office on January 1, 2023. Moore left office on January 10, 2023.

Moore resigned in January 2023 after concern about his qualifications to serve on the commission.[1]

Issues

In 2007, Moore introduced New Mexico House Bill 235 (2007), requiring the state Taxation and Revenue Department to prepare an annual Tax Expenditure Budget.[2] This budget would have made public the total amount of revenue forgone by the State of New Mexico due to tax deductions, exemptions, credits, or preferential tax rates granted to certain groups.[3]

This bill was passed unanimously in the House of Representatives and by a 35-1 vote in the Senate. Governor Bill Richardson did not sign the bill, so it did not take effect.[2]
