Campaign themes
2014
Kresge's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[3]
Jobs
- Excerpt: "Brian will work to eliminate corporate tax breaks, close the infamous Delaware loophole, and work to lower the present corporate net income tax. He’ll work to bring high-tech or distribution center, “gold collar” jobs to northern Lancaster County. He’ll support the responsible growth of Pennsylvania’s energy industry. Brian will support tax incentives for manufacturer’s that pay a good wage and hire workers in Pennsylvania."
Education
- Excerpt: "Brian will support state-wide pre-K programs, and will fight the funnelling of public money into unaccountable charter schools of limited benefit to community educational outcomes. He will seek legislation that helps incentivize private/public partnerships to create high-tech skill sets in public school students."
Taking Care of Our Own: Veterans
- Excerpt: "As a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans and a mentor team leader with Lancaster County Veterans Court, Brian aggressively works on behalf of disenfranchised veterans. Establishing paths out of homelessness, unemployment, and the negative repercussions of wartime experience will be crucial as our engagement in conflicts winds down. Service members from the Commonwealth have given so much on our behalf, and Brian’s deep connection to the military motivates him to take care of our own."
Taking Care of Our Own: Seniors
- Excerpt: "Seniors in northern Lancaster County see a diminishing set of returns in terms of rising healthcare costs and property taxes. Brian will work with the next Governor to halt Governor Corbett’s assault on the lottery system. He will also seek to improve access to community-based care."
Women
- Excerpt: "As a long-time computer programmer, Brian can speak to the absence of women in his profession. By continuing to push for incentives for women and minority owned businesses, as well as working with public education to foster the advancement of women in STEM fields, Brian wants to see Pennsylvania as a leader for equality in the workplace."
LGBT
- Excerpt: "Brian fully supports marriage equality, workplace protections, anti-bullying efforts, and violence prevention efforts, for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered Pennsylvanians."
