The city of Boise, Idaho, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was September 4, 2015. Three of the six city council seats were up for election.

All four eligible incumbents ran for re-election. In the mayoral race, David Bieter defeated two challengers. In the three city council races, Lauren McLean was unopposed, while 2015 appointee Scot Ludwig and Elaine Clegg each faced one challenger. Both Ludwig and Clegg won re-election.

Challengers in Boise's 2015 municipal elections faced uphill battles to unseat incumbents based on recent election history. Mayor Bieter won at least 60 percent of the vote during re-election campaigns in 2007 and 2011 including a 49-percent margin of victory in 2011. In the 2011 election, two of the four city council seats were unopposed and the margins of victory in Seat 2 and 3 were 27 percent and 57 percent, respectively.[1] Judy M. Peavey-Derr was Bieter's most experienced challenger with eight years on the Ada County Commission and four years on the Greater Boise Auditorium District. Peavey-Derr campaigned on improved communications with newly annexed neighborhoods in the city but also acknowledged Bieter's successes in office.[2] Seth M. Holden ran against Bieter to bring some new ideas to office though Holden lauded the incumbent's achievements.[3]

Bieter was active in campaigning for city councilors facing challengers in 2015. He appeared at Elaine Clegg's campaign kickoff event on September 18, 2015, calling Clegg the "conscience of the mayor and council, and of the city."[4] Scot Ludwig was appointed by Bieter in January 30, 2015, to fill the vacancy left by David Eberle.[5] Ludwig started his campaign with an event in early September 2015 featuring Bieter as the special guest.[6]
