Amy L. Smith was a judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was elected on November 2, 2004 (effective the following January). She ran unopposed and was retained in the August 24, 2010 primary to a six-year term that was set to end on January 2, 2017.[1][2][3][4]

Following an aneurysm in 2015, however, Smith decided to retire before the end of her term. She officially left the bench on March 31, 2016.[5]

Education

Smith received her B.A. degree (in English and Journalism) from Mercer University, attended the University of Florida for her graduate studies in Education, and received her J.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University School of Law. She was admitted to the Bar in 1988.[2]

Career

Smith began her career in 1987 as an assistant state attorney in Palm Beach County. She then worked as a senior partner at the law firm of Walton, Lantaff, Schroeder and Carson LLP from 1989 until she was elected to the circuit court in 2004.[1]

2010 election

Smith ran unopposed and was automatically retained to a new term.[3]
