The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 31, 2014. Daneya Esgar was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Brian Mater defeated Alexander Lucero-Mugatu in the Republican primary. Esgar defeated Mater in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
