I am a husband, father, combat veteran and small businessman running to represent the 45th District in Kentucky’s State House of Representatives. With deep roots in Central Kentucky, I've followed a path that spans public and military service, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. I'm excited to be putting that experience and hard work toward winning a seat in our state's legislature to represent my local community and help move Kentucky forward!

  • I believe that every American has the right to decide what happens to their own body. Roe v. Wade got it right, women should have autonomy over their reproductive health and the right to make their own decisions about continuing a pregnancy, seeking adoption, or accessing safe and legal abortion care up to the point of viability and with exceptions beyond when medically necessary. Access to reproductive healthcare is a critical component of women's health.
  • Education is the key to unlocking our children's full potential and creating a better future for all Kentuckians. As your representative, I will prioritize policies that ensure every child feels safe in their school, not just as students, but as individuals. We must also recognize that our teachers are our strongest allies in this fight and must be treated as such. They deserve fair pay, benefits, and resources to support their critical work.
  • I grew up with an appreciation for responsible gun ownership, having learned gun safety and deer hunting with my father. In the Army, I regularly trained and qualified with pistols, rifles, and light machine guns. As your representative, I will work to protect the rights of all Kentuckians who legally and responsibly own guns while also working to ensure that proper background checks are performed and loopholes closed so that we can better ensure that it is mature and responsible individuals who are observing that Second Amendment right.

Kentucky's women should have autonomy over their bodies without excessive interference from politicians.
Our public schools need to be fully funded so that our children are safe and encouraged to read and learn.
Responsible gun ownership must be protected through the second amendment while also taking measures to ensure the safety of our children and reduce unnecessary gun violence.
Me must prioritize treatment over incarceration for non-violent individuals struggling with opioid addiction.
Impacted Kentuckians who have repaid their debt society and are law-abiding citizens must have their voting rights restored.

The person I look up to most is my father, Harold Moore. He's not rich or famous, but he's probably the best man I'll ever know. I've never heard him say an unkind word about anyone, and I doubt anyone could come up with an unkind word to say about him. Additionally, he was someone who always worked hard but still made time to be there for me in all my passions and activities growing up, time that his own parents weren't able to make for him. If I've turned into a good man who is able to help people and do some good in this world, it's 99.9% due to my parents and the man they raised me to be. And if people can say that I'm truly "my father's son" then I know I've done something right.

I strive to be a representative of high moral character who is guided by a strong vision of compassion and progress for the Bluegrass. We often think of politicians as liars and crooks, people who would say anything to get elected. I don't want to be a person who just gets elected, I want to be my authentic self both on the campaign trail and in the legislature. And that authentic self is rooted in kindness and compassion for others. If I rise as a politician, I want it to be because I lifted others up.

My two strongest qualities that will make me a successful legislator are my work-ethic and my compassion. I love getting out and meeting people at their doors and community events, and that's what it takes to truly be their representative in Frankfort. My spiritual growth in recent years has allowed me to become much kinder and compassionate for all people I come across. I know we all develop unintentional biases and beliefs throughout our lives, but I'm very proud that the spiritual maturity I've worked toward has improved my ability to see the good and divine in everyone I meet. And that truly encourages me to be a representative for everyone in the 45th, regardless of party, race, sex, religion, gender or any other identifier society may have.

"How Long Will I Love You" by Ellie Goulding.

Yes, I believe that it's in our constituents' best interests for legislators to get to know one another. Humans are social by nature, and it's a lot easier to find common ground on tough issues if we can look one another in the eye with dignity and respect, not animosity. I'm no fool who thinks that everyone is going to like me, but I think I will better represent the voters of the 45th once I've developed personal relationships with legislators who may be willing to work together toward a common cause from either side of the aisle.

Compromise is absolutely essential if any legislative body wants to actually serve the people they represent. No matter how red or blue cable news might say a district or state is, we all know that there are people of all stripes and beliefs everywhere in this country. It's the unwillingness to compromise that has our nation so divided and our legislatures, both at the state and federal level, unable and unwilling to accomplish some of even the most basic tasks of government. I look forward to seeking out opportunities for compromise with my fellow legislators so that we can move Kentucky forward together.

The committee that most interests me is the Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection. Having served in the Army and currently serving on Lexington's Commission on Veteran Affairs, I don't believe my service ended on the day I was honorably discharged from the Army. Win or lose this election, I will continue to serve Kentuckian's service members and veterans in whatever capacity I am able.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
