Arlan B. Meekhof (b. November 28, 1959) is a former Republican member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 30 from 2011 to 2018. Meekhof served as state Senate majority leader from 2015 to 2018. Meekhof previously served as state Senate majority floor leader.

Meekhof was unable to run for re-election in 2018 to the Michigan State Senate because of term limits.

Meekhof served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. In 1996, he was elected to the Olive Township Board of Trustees, where he has served as a Trustee and later as Township Supervisor.

Biography

Meekhof graduated from Allendale Public High School in 1978 and attended Davenport College.

Elections for the Michigan State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Sarah Howard was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Arlan Meekhof was unopposed in the Republican primary. Meekhof defeated Howard in the general election.[1][2][3][4]

Meekhof won election to the 30th District of the Michigan State Senate in 2010. He defeated Democrat John Chester and Libertarian Bruce Campbell in the November 2 general election.[5]

On November 4, 2008, Meekhof ran for District 89 of the Michigan House of Representatives, beating Timothy Winslow and Terry Ashcraft.[6]
