I was born in the birthplace of democracy, Athens, Greece, to a U.S. military father and Greek mother. Coming from a family with a history of military service, I knew I wanted to serve our country and did so proudly as a Russian Intelligence Interceptor in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Military, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Geosciences at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I wanted to further my education, and left for England to study at Oxford University. I met my husband John, a small business owner, in London, and soon afterwards began working as a radio producer for the BBC. We moved back to the United States, and as a member of AMVETS, I became an advocate for veteran women’s issues and homeless and disabled veterans. I continue my work fighting the corruption and fraud that is currently trying to disenfranchise veterans at the Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Veteran Soldiers. Once I had my two girls, I knew the only place I wanted to raise my family was in Arizona: a state that prides itself on fierce independence, love of country, and a strong sense of community.
  • We need to be more aggressive in managing our water resources, investing in clean, renewable energy, and creating both green jobs and a sustainable environment. Phoenix continues to rank as one of the worst cities for air quality, and our more rural communities are not much better. There is much we can accomplish at the state level to improve the air and water quality and the quality of life for everyone. As a scientist I will work tirelessly on legislation to protect our environment for generations to come.
  • Equal access to quality, fully-funded education is essential for all Arizona children, as are educational opportunities outside of traditional college, so that students stay engaged in learning past the 12th grade. I see an Arizona where young people can pursue both college and alternative career preparation programs, including apprenticeships that will help create a skilled workforce and one that's ready for the future. I will work to make sure that our education gets the funding that is long overdue.
  • Every eligible voter has the right to have their voice heard in free and fair elections, regardless of political party. Efforts to prevent citizens from voting must be uncovered and stopped, and I will work to stop these attacks on our voting rights once in office. We must protect the right to accessible voting opportunities for every eligible voter, including providing multilingual resources, expanding polling hours and locations, keeping mail-in voting, and provide protection for in-person voting.
First, I am passionate about restoring and protecting the civil rights of our communities of color, women, LGBTQ+, and individuals with disabilities. For far too long we have seen our most marginalized communities come under constant attack, and it must end. I will work to make sure everybody is able to make their own healthcare and family planning decisions without government intervention or restrictions. I will work to eliminate predatory scam/spam calls, eliminate barriers to access services for all who need them, and make sure more guardrails are in place to support those in our communities that need them the most.

I am also passionate about protecting our veterans, even more so as a veteran myself. We must maintain and expand services and programs for veterans here in Arizona. They deserve expanded access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, and civilian employment. Veterans are confronted with a difficult transition back into civilian life and they suffer an unacceptable amount of homelessness and high suicide rates. This must change.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arizona

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
