An effort in Jennings, Missouri, to recall Mayor Yolanda Fountain-Henderson from her position was launched in November 2015. The effort did not go to a vote because Fountain-Henderson was impeached on May 24, 2016.[1][2]

Recall supporters

Recall supporters pursued Fountain-Henderson's removal from office for the following reasons:

  • Filing a lawsuit against the city for an ordinance guaranteeing four-year contracts for city employees not elected by the public[3]
  • Bypassing advice from the city attorney[1]
  • Creating a hostile work environment[1]

Response by Fountain-Henderson

In an interview with KMOV, Fountain-Henderson said, "It's a little shocking because a lot of these are lies...The lawsuit has not cost the city one red cent so far, we have not moved forward with it."[1]
