William Barnett (Mississippi)
William R. Barnett was a special chancellor of the 20th Chancery District in Mississippi. He was appointed by the Mississippi Supreme Court on April 8, 2015, to serve for one month following the death of former Judge Dan Fairly. Barnett's term expired on May 11, 2015.[1]
Barnett previously served as a judge on the Hinds County Court in Mississippi. His term expired in 2010.[2]
Education
Barnett earned his B.A. from Millsaps College. He earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi.[3]
Career
Prior to his retirement from the bench and taking on senior status in April 2015, Barnett had previously served for 16 years as a judge for the Hinds County Court, two years as a pro tempore municipal judge, two years as an assistant prosecuting attorney and five years as a special master for the Hinds County Chancery Court.[4]
