Vanessa Niekamp is an at-large member of the Pickerington Local School District Board of Education in Ohio. She assumed office in 2013. Her current term ends on December 31, 2025.
Niekamp ran for re-election for an at-large seat of the Pickerington Local School District Board of Education in Ohio. She won in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Biography
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Niekamp graduated from Independence High School. She earned bachelor's degree in business administration and jazz performance from Capital University. She has worked as the executive director of the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, a section of the state that regulates the funeral industry in Ohio.[1] Niekamp was also elected Violet Township Fiscal Officer in November 2019.[2]

Three of five seats on the Pickerington Local School District Board of Education in Ohio were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Two incumbents ran for re-election. Incumbents Vanessa Niekamp and Lori Sanders were the only candidates to file for the three at-large seats by the filing deadline on August 9, 2017. Five more candidates, Nick Derksen, David Horton, Mark Kenney, Clay Lopez, and E. Gayle Saunders, ran as write-in candidates. Incumbents Niekamp and Sanders and write-in candidate Lopez won the election.[3][4][5]

Niekamp said she would focus her term on the fight to restore traditional art, music, physical education and media technology to the district's K-4 classes, while also centering her attention on the district-sponsored anti-bullying and drug-awareness programming.[7]
