- Georgia must expand medicaid access to all eligible citizens. There is no excuse for 500,000 Georgians to be without insurance when the federal government has provided $3.5 billion to expand coverage.
- We must protect the right to vote for all Georgia citizens. The recent slew of unneccessary and prohibitive election laws do nothing but hinder fair and reasonable access to the ballot box.
- We must continue to fully fund our education system. Our population is growing, so we must ensure that we are keeping up with the needs of our children in this state so that they may prosper.
I am passionate about voting rights. Our collective voting rights are stripped away by unnecessary laws and prohibitions. Voting rights have been under attack from all sides in Georgia, with Cobb and District 37 facing serious redistricting and gerrymandering issues.
I look up to my mother. As a single parent, she worked hard to provide a good life for my sisters and I. Her tenacity and self-discipline has always been an example that I have followed in my life growing up and now as a parent to my daughter.
I possess many qualities that I believe would make me a successful officeholder. I am an attorney who has spent years studying and understanding both our state and federal constitution. I have even taught constitutional law at the University level. I have served the state of Georgia for over a decade as a prosecutor and then as a Soldier. My military service has taught me the importance of teamwork and sacrifice for the benefit of others.
My first historical event was the tragic beating of Rodney King and the subsequent riots that took place in Los Angeles following the verdict of the police officers responsible. I was 8 years old.
My very first job was at 9 years old. I worked inside the school library. My responsibility was to re-stock the books as they were returned by other students. I would come in during recess and after lunch everyday. My salary was $1.00 an hour, which at the time was pretty competitive for the 5th grade employment market.

The legislature must always act as an independent branch of government. It cannot merely be an extension of a Governor's political ambitions. The state legislature and Governor's office must work together to seek solutions to the problems that all Georgians are facing, not just those solutions that only beneift one political ideology.
Access to affordable healthcare and voting rights will be the greatest challenges in Georgia.
It is beneifical, but I do not believe it should be a requirement. Many qualified citizens bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge based upon their careers and life experiences that may not have anything to do with government or politics.
Yes, compromise is necessary for policymaking. As a State Senator, my job will be to advocate for whatever is in the best interest of my constitutents. That will mean that in order to obtain a favorable results, I may have to conceed on certain points. However, concession does not mean that I my district is "losing". It simply means that both sides will have to give some ground so that both sides can walk away with a favorable result.
