I'm a trial attorney, U.S. Army veteran, and family man. I first came to West Virginia in law school and decided to make the state my home after graduation. I'm committed to improving the state for all.
  • Economic development is the first priority. We have to spur economic development in order to attract and retain talent in West Virginia and to reverse our shrinking population.
  • Modern infrastructure is crucial. We have to modernize our roads, water, and internet so that our infrastructure carries West Virginia into the next century and beyond.
  • Fighting for the Constitution. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution. We must ensure that our Constitutional rights are protected at all costs.
I'm passionate about building and maintaining a secure modern infrastructure. Without the correct infrastructure backbone, the ability to drive economic growth will be limited. Additionally, we have to make sure that our tax system makes sense- that means ensuring transparency in government spending and being excellent stewards of public dollars. Businesses will struggle to grow and we will struggle to allow families to maintain an excellent standard of living if our tax system is antiquated or poorly thought out.

I also believe that we must protect all of our Constitutional rights. I'm a fierce advocate of the Second Amendment. I also believe in the right to a jury trial and ensuring that everyone is afforded due process in the legal system.
My first job was helping my father clean-up construction sites when I was 12 years old. I learned that nothing great is achieved without sweat and hard work. That was the first of many jobs I held as I eventually became an attorney and later U.S. Army officer.
The biggest challenge facing West Virginia over the next decade is our shrinking population base. Our state has much to offer nationally and globally, but we have to place ourselves in the best position to show that to the rest of the world. We must take the necessary steps to modernize and secure our infrastructure. Moving West Virginia forward requires that we attract and retain the best talent- both individuals and businesses.
Experience is always beneficial, but not the only factor for being a quality legislator. Understanding how to work as a team, how to implement new ideas, and how government works for the benefit of the people are the most important requirements.
Rarely will everyone be in absolute agreement about policy issues. I believe that policymaking requires sitting down with fellow legislators, developing and implementing a plan, and then refining that plan once you are able to understand what works and what doesn't. If legislators are unable to work together towards a common purpose then the population that voted them in will see stagnation and eventually regression.
