2016
Pappas' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[4]
Economy
- Excerpt: "We need to work on public-private cooperations to spur the growth of high-value manufacturing and service jobs and bring Indiana into the 21st century."
Infrastructure
- Excerpt: "I want to take a simple idea that other states have developed to fix our mess. An Infrastructure Bank will generate private investments for much needed repairs right here in Monroe County and create many new jobs right here in Indiana."
Education
- Excerpt: "We must work to reverse this damage by using the infrastructure bank to fix our school buildings. Second, I want to decrease testing overall and to use it solely as a metric for student progress, rather than linking it to teacher salaries. Let teachers teach students, not tests."
Equality
- Excerpt: "It is time for every Hoosier to be equal under the law. Period. Our LGBTQ neighbors, friends, and colleagues deserve legal protections that Indiana Republicans continue to deny them."
