Lakey's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[16]

THE ECOMONY

  • Excerpt: "I support policies that will encourage business development, innovation and expansion. As a small business owner, I understand the importance of a strong stable economy and the need to establish an atmosphere where private business and industry can grow and create good paying jobs for Idahoans."

TAXES

  • Excerpt: "Keeping taxes low allows individuals, families and businesses to invest in their future and support Idaho’s economy. Managing government budgets starts by eliminating government waste, not taxing citizens and businesses to maintain bureaucracy."

FAMILY

  • Excerpt: "I am a husband and father of five and I know that the family is the foundation of a successful society. I am a Pro-life Republican who will protect traditional family values."

LESS GOVERNMENT

  • Excerpt: "Government’s role is to provide an environment where businesses and individuals can thrive. Government over regulation stifles our economy and the limits the opportunities available for people to be successful. I also understand the importance of personal property rights, second amendment rights and other individual freedoms. Idaho’s natural resources are best managed within Idaho not from Washington D.C."[17]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Idaho

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Idaho scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
