|As a P-3 pilot based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, I flew hundreds of missions out of 19 countries tracking Russian nuclear submarines, monitoring the coast of Libya for terrorist activity, and conducting drug interdiction missions through South and Central America in the protection of our southern border. My 26 years of service spans the final stages of the Cold War through the current War on Terror. I retired as a Commander (0-5) in 2016 and received the Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the National Defense Service Medal.
I am a Harvard MBA and Jacksonville University Graduate, and I have played an important role in the growth of North Florida's regional innovation economy as an investor, founder, and executive for more than 20 years.
With three children attending Florida Universities, my wife Mary and I understand firsthand the challenges facing hardworking families in Florida and across the country. As the lone conservative on the Gainesville City Commission, I used common-sense solutions and responsible fiscal restraint to fight for taxpayers, limit government overreach and lower skyrocketing utility rates. I am a constitutional conservative who believes less government and more freedom are what make America great.
We need to put America first! I stand with President Trump to protect our borders and keep America safe. I would fight to fund President Trump's border wall, eliminate sanctuary cities, and support E-Verify.
Government, all too often, makes it harder for American businesses to thrive. As a small business owner, I know firsthand how government regulations make it difficult to do our jobs. We should keep taxes low so you can keep more of your hard earned money, simplify the tax code, invest in workforce and technical education, and cut red tape to roll back needless regulations that hold businesses back. Now, more than ever, we need leaders in Washington who have the experience and understanding to get the job done.
- President Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." I am reminded of that as I see the progressive left continue their assault on our second amendment rights. As your representative, I will be an unwavering supporter of our second amendment. I have US Navy Qualified Weapons training, am a second amendment defender, and an NRA member.
Protecting our veterans is personally important to me. Veterans fought for us on our front lines. Now, it's the government's job to make sure they receive the care they earned. I would prioritize cleaning up the VA, so that veterans can get better access to the care they earned, continue to help ease the transition for veterans from active duty service to civilian life, and make sure veterans in our community get education, and get connected to resources that can help them.
I look up to President Ronald Reagan because he was able to bring American pride back to the United States. Ronald Reagan was the first president I was able to vote for, and he was the Commander in Chief when I was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy. I always strive to follow his example of strong, principled leadership and dedication to this country.
Honesty, courage to act, and dedication to serving one's community are the most important characteristics for an elected official.
In Congress, I will be one of the loudest voices for a transparent and accountable federal government. As a P-3 pilot and mission commander, I understand the importance of achieving peace through strength, and that is why I will continue to support President Trump's foreign policy. As a small business owner I know firsthand how difficult government regulations make it to do our jobs. Now, more than ever, we need leaders in Washington who have the experience and understanding to get the job done.
The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys
Experience matters but beneficial experience is not limited to government or politics. I believe strong candidates should diverse strong and diverse experience across many areas of American life, including business, military, and family.
- Creating jobs and growing the economy
- Prioritizing national security
- Stronger border security
- Securing our Second Amendment
- Protecting our veterans
- Draining the swamp
- Securing our food supply chain by supporting our farmers
I am proud to have signed the Term Limits on Congress pledge!
