Shane Devine (1926-1999) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. He joined the court in 1978 after an appointment from Jimmy Carter. At the time of his appointment, Devine was a private practice attorney in New Hampshire. Devine served as the District of New Hampshire's chief judge from 1979-1992. He assumed senior status on September 8, 1992 and served until his death on February 22, 1999.[1][2]

Military service

Devine served in the United States Army after graduating from high school, from August 1944 until June 1945.[1][2]

Personal life

Devine married Mary Elizabeth Beebe, with whom he had five children. After she passed away, Devine married Priscilla Greenhalge in 1990.[2]

Judicial career

District of New Hampshire

Devine was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. He was nominated by Jimmy Carter on May 17, 1978. He was subsequently confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 23, 1978. He received his commission on June 27, 1978. Devine was succeeded in this position by Paul Barbadoro. Devine served as the District of New Hampshire's chief judge from 1979-1992. He assumed senior status on September 8, 1992 and served until his death on February 22, 1999.[1][2]
