Review of Administrative Rules Committee, Wisconsin State Legislature
The Review of Administrative Rules is a joint standing committee of the Wisconsin State Legislature.
According to the Wisconsin Statutes, the Review of Administrative Rules Committee consists of five senators and five representatives. Members are appointed through the same process as is used in their respective chambers. All appointments are made as near as possible to the commencement of the biennial legislative session.[1]
For the senators, appointments are made by the Senate Organization Committee.[2] Any minority party senators appointed are chosen from a list of nominees compiled by the Senate Minority Leader. The Senate Majority Leader, serving as chair of the Senate Organization Committee, designates one of the appointed senators to serve as a co-chair of the Review of Administrative Rules Committee.[2]
For representatives, appointments are made by the Speaker of the Assembly. The Speaker appoints all majority party representatives directly with the first-named appointee serving as a co-chair of the Review of Administrative Rules Committee. Any minority party representatives appointed are chosen from a list of nominees compiled by the House Minority Leader.[3]
Per the Joint Rules, all joint committees will have one co-chair from each chamber.[4] All committee hearings are open to the public, and advanced notice will be provided if time permits.[5]
