Ryan VanGundy moved to Colorado in 2008 after my enlistment in the US Navy had ended. I had an amazing career in the Navy and helped shape me to the person I am today. Although I am not a native Coloradoan have loved living in Colorado ever since. I attended Red Rocks Community College for a year after getting out of the Navy then started working in the IT field. I have now been doing that since 2009, and have grown in that field from a system administrator to a now senior system engineer. I decided to run for office because I was not happy with the direction the state was going and want to do what I can to get back to being the great state it was when I moved here. There is hope that we can get more voices in the State Senate and House so it is no longer an echo chamber and we can make real change for all of Colorado.
  • Lowering the cost of living in Colorado needs to be a priority.
  • Education has been on a decline we need to strengthen our education system with school choice and strengthening public education.
  • Ensuring citizens never lose any of their rights.

I look up to people who fight for freedom and prosperity, a current person I look up to is the Argentinian President Javier Milei. I would follow his example of standing on your principals and not backing down from extreme opposition. But I really want to lead by example myself.
Books by Milton Friedman ("Capitalism and Freedom", "Free to Choose", "Why Government is the Problem")
Various Essays by members so the Hoover Institute. Essays created and posted by members for Americans for Prosperity (AFP)
Integrity you need to be able to stand on principal and be honest in all your dealings.
Listen to the people you serve. Everything you do should be to enhance their lives not your own.
One that makes not only myself but the rest of the world is proud to have shared this place with me.
As a Gen Y millennial I have seen alot of historical events but the only one that truly embedded in my brain like everyone else is 9-11 2001, and I was 17 sitting in my first period class.
Technically my first job was a summer job that welfare department set up for kids of welfare recipients. I worked for the township cutting grass, patching roads things like that. What I consider my first job though was with the United States Navy and I was on active duty for 6.5 years.
I don't think I can answer this. I read a lot, there are books I go back to but to say I have an absolute favorite would be disingenuous.
"House of Sand" by Nothing More, but in all honesty the Tigger sound from Whinnie the Pooh gets dropped in there all the time.
It should be a partnership but not a tool to further the Governors agenda.
I am my own person and would refuse to carbon copy myself from another politician. I do hope however to be able to speak as great as Ronald Regan or Barak Obama.
Where ever I can do the most good for Colorado and America I would always choose to server.
I have heard multiple personal stories and they are all touching, memorable, and impactful. From family members overdosing, to not being able to afford basic needs, and everything in between. However, I don't believe in sharing another persons pain and story to get votes.
Guess what.....chicken butt. Just kidding I don't really remember jokes.
A bill to resolve the cost of living issues. Which will reinstate the Gallagher act or something better, remove taxation from building supplies which would lower the cost of building homes etc. Sales tax free month of July for school supplies, clothing and other necessary back to school needs. Then I can get started on the environment, education, healthcare.

The government should do everything in the light of day and are 100% accountable to their citizens. We have a right to challenge our government and hold them accountable and they are not above us.
There is always room to improve anything but we do it decently efficient. Maybe lower the current standards that it takes to get something on the ballot like lowering the number of signatures required, sponsorship ease items like that.

I'm Ryan Van Gundy the Libertarian Candidate for the CO State Board of Education At Large. Veteran of the US Navy where I honorably served for 6yrs. When I left the Navy I moved to CO and fell in love with this State. I attended Red Rocks Community College where worked towards getting a degree in Education to become a Science Teacher. However life had other plans and I began working in the IT world.
  • Efficient robust education that fits all citizens. Allowing for school of choice, as well a STEAM oriented curriculum.
  • Educator hiring and retention.
  • Safer schools and making CO the number 1 state for education

Veteran of the United States Navy. Served Honorably fro 6 yrs on multiple deployments and engagements. Moved to Colorado in 2008 and have felt at home here ever since. I have primarily been registered as an Independent until I discovered the Libertarian party and found a home there. I love the promise that is America and want to work to ensure all people can be fulfilled in the promise. Change is difficult but we need to start if we want a country we can be proud of. I don't have a law degree or years of experience in the political world. However, I do have a lot common sense and an agenda that will make Colorado a great state that works for everyone.
  • Supporting All Freedoms, All the time, for everyone.
  • I have a busy agenda planned for a the state of Colorado in hopes to get us back on a solid path. Dealing with Stopping human trafficking, Education, homelessness, mental health, policing issues, taxation, the size of government just to name a few.
  • Ending the duopoly! The two party system has not been a benefit to our country, and has been in power for more than a century. If we want real change we are going to have to start by electing different representation and fresh ideas.
stopping human trafficking, racial injustice, education, environmental, homelessness, mental health, medical cost and availability, taxation, over regulating, and the size of Government.
John Stossel personifies Libertarian principals and works to bring those to the masses in understandable ways . The persons example I would like to follow is Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. his dedication to fighting for justice and unwavering principals are want I want exemplify in order to lead and show people a better way.
Be truthful, honorable and unwavering on your principals.
Strong willed, level headed, optimistic, willingness to work with others, open to others opinions and ideas, strong leadership, fair, caring, and understanding. I had a lot of struggles in my life and have over came them, so I can empathize greatly with others.
To work diligently to ensure Colorado works for all its citizens.
A legacy that all citizens are able to achieve their dreams. A legacy that shows people that government is not the answer. A legacy that allows people to sleep easy at night. A legacy that others not only me can be proud of.
September 9/11 is the first historical event that happened in my lifetime. I was 17 yrs old at the time. Other things have happened during my life but that was the biggest and most impacting.
That is pretty tough as I am an active reader. The book series I go back to a lot is Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series written by multiple authors. I like to escape from my own head from time to time and Star Wars offers a vast universe of possibilities.
Breaking the chains that hold us all back.
Serves as a solid system for checks and balances. The House is a more local oriented chamber and can bring more issues to be rectified.
Balancing the budget, police reform, education reform, solving the homeless issue, racial injustice, stopping human trafficking, affordable and available medical coverage.
Should be a hand in hand relationship united for the benefit of all Colorado.
Yes. You should have a strong relationship with your fellow legislators in order to what is best for Colorado. You should also have strong relationship with local municipalities as well. In addition to building a relationship with other state legislators. Surrounding states often face similar problems and working together can help to eliminate those issues.
I don't know enough about how CO districts are divided up. Gerrymandering should definitely not be part of the process though. As this state grows though we need to ensure we have the correct amount of representation to better server our constituents.
I am not aware of any but would like to support my state and district how ever I can.
Ron Paul is a good example, but I want to find my own path and become a model for others.
At this time no but I will go where needed if that calling is higher office I will not shy away from it.
There are multiple stories I have heard, and all have had an impact on me. From people facing racial injustice, to people losing their businesses due to government over reach, financial struggles, mental health issues etc. Which is the reason my agenda is pretty full and ambitious.
