Submitted Biography "Ronnie Ross is a teacher, coach, and school administrator who lives in western Loudoun County. Ronnie and his wife Josie have one child: Ronnie. Jr. In fact, it was the birth of his son and the encouragement of his wife that convinced Ronnie to run. He became deeply anxious about the world we were creating--and leaving--not just for little Ronnie, but for all of our children. When he mentioned to Josie that it would be difficult to run with an infant in the household, she responded with words he would never forget: “That’s fine. It will be hard. But, when it feels like too much, you can always just look into your son’s eyes and know why you’re doing this.” Ronnie is running because he believes there is more work left to do. Our politics have become mired in the status quo and in bitter partisan divide. We can do better than that. In fact, we must. Our future and our children’s future depends on it. He believes in investing in education. He believes in stewarding our environment. He believes in helping our small businesses, our farms, and the working class. He believes in supporting our first responders. Most of all, Ronnie believes in putting his values of hard work and integrity to work for you and for the Commonwealth."

It's okay. We can admit it. Our politics are broken, and Richmond no longer works for all of us. Too often, the folks down in the Capitol make decisions that benefit the special interests that keep them in power with little regard for the people who trusted them and put them there.

Well, it's time that changed because we can do better. We have to do better. Look, I'm not a career politician; I'm just a teacher who's out to do what's best for his community and who's out to create a better future for our children. This means:

Funding our schools and making sure our educators are paid

Making sure we steward our planet

Expanding access to Healthcare and ensuring its affordability

Avoiding partisan gridlock

Fixing our broken election and campaign finance system

Taking on Dominion and other powerful lobbies

Fighting for our first responders, our small businesses, our farms, and the working class
Ronnie came to Virginia a decade ago, following a job offer during the worst stretch of the Great Recession. He had graduated summa cum laude from Wittenberg University and was also a member of the national honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. However, job prospects were bleak as fewer than one-fifth of graduates in the class of 2009 had a job at the time of graduation. When Ronnie was offered a chance to teach English in Warrenton, Virginia, he jumped at the opportunity to pursue his passion, what he considers to be his life's work. In 2014, Ronnie went on to earn a Masters of Science in Education, with a focus in School Leadership, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ronnie's personal and professional experience has given him strong insights into the needs of Virginia Senate District 27, whether it's representing people's needs in Richmond or listening to them in Boyce. However, he knows that the biggest part of fighting for you is listening to you, and Ronnie is eager to do both.
It's okay. We can admit it. Our politics are broken, and Richmond no longer works for all of us. Too often, the folks down in the Capitol make decisions that benefit the special interests that keep them in power with little regard for the people who trusted them and put them there.
