|- Bodily Autonomy. In very simple terms, Ron believes that the State should not tell an individual what they cannot remove from their body, nor should the State tell an individual what they must put into their body. The individual has the right to body autonomy
- Constitutional Rights. Ron is a strong supporter of gun rights. Gun rights are clearly established by the United States Constitution and the Michigan Constitution. The United States Constitution 2nd Amendment is very clear - the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
- Election Integrity. Ron believes elections must be conducted in a manner that provides the voter with an outcome that is fair and freely conducted.
Legislation that diminishes an individual’s lawful Constitutional rights is bad legislation. Punishing law-abiding citizens for a criminal’s action does not pass the common sense test. Ron supports legislation that strengthens the punishment for crime with a gun and believes this is good legislation.

|41 years of my working life have been within the Federal government's largest bureaucracy, the Department of Defense, Historical events in my early life that I recall are the Kennedy-Nixon debates (10 years old), Bay of Pigs (11 years old), Cuban missile crisis (12 years old) and the assassination of President Kennedy (13 years old). I believe the state's greatest challenges over the next decade are the expanding unelected bureaucracy, infrastructure and revenue. I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature is that which clearly recognizes each others constitutional responsibilities and limitations, while maintaining an equitable working relationship. It is necessary to develop a working relationship with other legislators in order to attain a consensus in achieving effective legislation. The committees I desire to serve on are the Oversight Committee, Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Agriculture Committee, and Government Operations Committee. The book which will help you understand political philosophy is "War is a Racket" by Smedley Butler. The qualities I have that would make me a successful representative are honesty and common sense. Details of my life, beliefs and issues are available at www.RonHawkins2020.com .
- Be responsive to all citizens within the 63rd District.
- Be honest and forthright in my actions and answers.
- Public service is a privilage.
