Ronald V. Swanson
Ronald V. Swanson was a judge on the Florida First District Court of Appeal. He was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in June 2011. He was retained in 2012.[1][2] Judge Swanson retired from the court on April 30, 2016.[3]
Education
Swanson received his B.S. from Florida State University in 1970, his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1973, and his LL.M. from George Washington University in 1982.[4]

Approach to the law
In the press release announcing Swanson's appointment to the First District Court of Appeal, Governor Scott said, "With 11 years on the bench, and a long and distinguished career as a Navy JAG, Judge Swanson will bring integrity, wisdom, and experience to the First DCA. He has a proven record of judicial conservatism, and a reputation for considering cases with respect and patience, coming to each decision in a firm but fair manner. As a well-respected member of the Pensacola community, Judge Swanson will bring that community’s values and perspectives with him to the bench. I am confident he will prove to be a wonderful addition to this important court."[1]

Swanson was retained on Nov. 6, 2012 with 64.9% of the vote.[5][2][6]

Swanson ran unopposed and was automatically retained to a new term. He ran unopposed and was retained in the August 24, 2010 primary to a six-year term that would have ended on January 2, 2017. [8][9][8]
