Paul Allen Simmons (1921-2014) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Lee was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on January 26, 1978, to a seat vacated by Ralph Scalera. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 6, 1978, and received commission the next day. Simmons was the first black judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He assumed senior status on June 1, 1990. Simmons passed away on October 9, 2014, of natural causes.[1][2] He was succeeded in this position by Timothy Lewis.

Education

Simmons earned his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1946 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1949.[1]
