The New Mexico Referendum: Equal Rights in Regards to Sex, also known as Amendment No. 1, was on the ballot in New Mexico on November 7, 1972, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The referendum allows for equality of rights for persons regardless of sex.[1]

Proposing an amendment to Article 2, Section 18 of the Constitution of New Mexico to insure equality of rights under the law without regard to a person's sex.[2] |
