CMP Media on Thursday offered the first details about the next Game Developers Conference, scheduled for March 20 - 24, 2006. The event is returning to the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif.

The event’s coordinators expect more than 12,000 game industry professionals to attend next year’s conference, which is dedicated “to the advancement of resources, tools and technologies used to create interactive games.”

Featured during the week the Game Developers Conference takes place are ancillary events including the GDC Expo, GDC mobile, the Serious Games Summit GDC, the Independent Games Festival, the Game Developers Choice Awards and Game Connection.

Featured speakers include Brian Jacobson of Valve Software, who will discuss his company’s design process for creating Half-Life 2, DreamWorks Animation’s Doug Cooper with a session on “Big screen to game console: Case studies” and much more.

Pre-registration is open now. Prices range from $175 to $1,625, depending on which pass you opt for.
