Great podcast
You know Walton Goggins & you haven’t had him on?! Fuck you.
such a great interview, i had to listen twice!
thanks gang!
I just heard the line that Timothy suggested the same thing as I just did, I had stopped the podcast while I made my previous comment. So there’s a consensus for that solution to ending Deadwood out there. So @Chris Hardwick I think you should set that up please?
I think the 2 hour wrap up show of Deadwood would be great, although no longer feasible per what Timothy said. I would be perfectly happy if the writers would do a short story, or even better an illustrated comic of the wrap up of the show. I’d like to know how they would have ended it properly! Hey Chris you know people, could you get on that, heck you’d probably like it too? If i had the skills and knew what the writers, directors, and producers wanted, I’d do it myself.
Timothy Olyphant has always been one of those actors I see on the screen and think, “OH, he’s THAT guy in THAT thing…what was it called?” He’s always popping up somewhere, but now I’ll remember his name and look forward to more interviews with the man because he’s darned funny.
@Chris Hardwick – I hope you DO interview Steve Martin some day. As awkward and as weird as the situation could be for you, he OUGHT to be interviewed by someone who #1. is a fellow comedian and understands the craft and #2. appreciates his style of comedy.
And while I’m at it, I’m going to submit Request #3,921 that you interview Tom Lehrer. Thank you.
Olyphant sort of gives you the impression of being really demanding towards the interviewers, that if he sees the questions are stupid he won’t be the one to keep the thing floating, that’s for sure… but that, on the other hand, if he feels comfortable, you’ve got a winner for sure, as you did.
Congrats, great job, nice episode
We miss deadwood!
I’m relatively new to the nerdist podcasts, but this one was such an enjoyable conversation that I’ve listened to it twice.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes ever. It would be awesome if at some point in the future you guys recorded another podcast with him. Walton Goggins would also be great to have on!
For some reason I want Olivia Munn to be really cool and friendly but it sounds like her ambitions kinda got in her way? I don’t know. Anyway, amazing podcast like always.
Olyphant is such an underrated actor. That man has charm and talent.
Deadwood and Justified are on my personal top tv lists (clearly I’m not alone)
Olyphant does his job well. Great interview.
Timothy Olyphant is so fucking cool. Justified is probably my favorite show on tv right now and I can’t wait to watch and re-watch the season premier tonight.
Looking forward to listening to this one, guys. Thanks a bunch !
Chris, ever since you mentioned that you two are friends in the prelude, all I can think about is how much I’d love a Walton Goggins episode.
Never Mind…Billy Crudup’s playin’ Bullock….
Now wait a minute…
LOL
I love listening to Chris discovering that someone he likes had a short-lived career in stand up comedy many years ago.
That’s a really special treat.
Timothy Olyphant is a very engaging person. I just wish that the interviewers were better.
Is there something wrong with me that, while I do enjoy Justified, the think that Timothy has done that I like the most is Hitman? I am a bit sad to hear he has no intention of doing another. Although, I do kind of understand. I was in the military and shaving your head is a bit of a thing.
just wanted to say this made me a huge fan of Timothy Olyphant, and I haven’t even seen him in much! (Which will be shortly remedied; Deadwood & Justified have been on my list of things to see for awhile–now there’s no excuse! ^^)
Witty, intelligent guy with a great sense of humor and some great stories… you guys really know how to pick ’em– or just have great luck and amazing chemistry with your guests– thanks for another awesome podcast!
Loved this one! He really opened up about halfway in after a sort of lukewarm start. Deadwood stories started coming out and then the stand up stuff was a fun surprise.
This man is one terrific actor. He really does “justice” to this complicated Elmore Leonard character. Wish Justified was on a pay cable channel…42 minutes isn’t long enough for an episode. Deleted scenes on the DVDs really fill in the blanks.
Is Chris Barnes going to be a guest in the next couple months? Please say yes. Or don’t say anything, and just do it!
Ah shit, another episode of A, B, and C rate celebrities whine about their varying degrees of success, my favorite!
Interviewer: “Tell me about your character.”
Timothy: “He’s a seven foot tall purple alien gorilla who eats nothing but placentas — Also, he’s a US Marshal.”
Interviewer: “Really?!”
Timothy: “Oh, yeah — He’s a Marshal.”
One of my favorite actors and shows with Deadwood.
literally gasped when i saw he was gonna be on. listening to the show only made me love both nerdist and him more. so many great shows lately.
Still haven’t listened to it, but I already pronounce it the best podcast ever!
I love Justified, it is by far the best TV show at the moment, at least on American TV. And Timothy is awesome in it. Didn’t think he was that great in Deadwood, tbh, but in Justified he kicks so much ass.
So weird — I just saw Tim last week on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”.
@Bender – No spoilers for Justified. There are some for Deadwood if you’re not too familiar with that show. Regardless, a great episode of the podcast!
I’m still catching up on Justified season 3, so can anyone tell me if this contains any spoilers?
This is why I love podcasts, and the Nerdist one in particular. Its great to hear a longform interview find its feet and unfold in to a normal conversation about stuff that would never have come up in a standard interview. Really fun and interesting!
Great podcast. I never knew Olyphant did stand up. Interesting fact.
Making a puppy smell chocolate? That’s cruel. Acute renal failure for the loss.
Totally platonic boner. So excited for the new season. Can’t wait to listen. Thank you, thank you, Chris.
Olyphant-astic!
