EVELYN VENABLE
Actress
Evelyn Venable, 80, a movie actress of the 1930s who starred opposite Frederick March in "Death Takes a Holiday" and who was believed to be the original model for Columbia Pictures' statuesque movie logo, died of cancer Nov. 16 in Post Falls, Idaho.
She made her film debut in 1933 in "Cradle Song." Later film credits include "David Harum," in which she played opposite Will Rogers. She also was the voice of the Blue Fairy in Walt Disney's "Pinocchio."
Miss Venable was the widow of Academy Award-winning cinematographer Hal Mohn and the daughter of a Shakespearean actor. She got her start in the theater with the Shakespearean company of Walter Hampden. …
